DANCING AT THE BOOK LAUNCH

(sung in my head to the tune of Smokin’ in the Boys Room)

Yes, that’s me.

The fuzzy-haired dancer facing the camera. This performance was the finale for our book launch for Embracing Authenticity that took place the first Saturday in November.

One of the things that I have really embraced since working on the book is doing exactly what I feel like doing, exactly when I feel like doing it.

I call it not giving a fuq about giving a fuq.

There’s always going to be someone telling you what you should be doing and how you should be doing it—whether it’s society, your partner, your kids, your parents.

After a while you learn that the only voice in your life that really matters is your own! That’s when you start becoming the H.G.I.C. (Head Goddess in Charge) of your own life.

But being real, that realization often comes after a trial or two—or as I like to call them—a createthrough. A createthrough is a situation you can’t get over, under, or around—you can only invent a creative way to make it through.

This is why our next book will be THROUGH THE FIRE: Women’s Stories of Courage and Resilience. Every woman has, at some point, really been through it. But we don’t give up, we don’t lay down, we find that createthrough that gets us to the other side.

If you’ve got a story to tell, we want to hear from you. We want to celebrate you. Show us your interest in writing a 750-1000 word essay for the book and we will get back to you within 48 hours.
