The Year of Living Truthfully

Every year has its own energy, vibration and character. Those of you who have been with me for a while have heard me say this before.

The other day I heard someone characterize 2024 as the year of living truthfully.

This got me started thinking about the act of truth telling. To my mind, the most important person that we need to tell the truth to is ourselves.

It’s not always easy to be real with ourselves–to acknowledge the ways we’ve been wrong or the stories we tell ourselves about why we do the things we do. We don’t want to admit to the flaws and dark places in our character, psyche or soul.

I’ll give you an example: about 15 years ago, my family went to see the King Tut exhibit in Times Square. (It was a fabulous exhibit, by the way!) We took a family picture–one of those Polaroid type things. Later looking at the photo, I was wondering who was the short, shall we say, robust, woman in the picture?

Surprise, surprise–it was me!

I had been skinny most of my life, and despite knowing intellectually that I’d gained a bit of weight, in my mind’s eye, I was still thin.

Seeing that picture was a huge wake-up call for me. One I am truly grateful for. I proceeded to lose 25 pounds after that. I unfortunately gained them all back during the pandemic and beyond. But I am determined to make 2024 the year that I get back to a weight I feel comfortable with.

The truth of the matter is that you can’t address something you don’t acknowledge.

You can’t live authentically if you are busy burying the parts of yourself you don’t like or don’t know how to incorporate.

How can you be the Goddess in charge of your own life if you don’t explore and heal these hidden parts of yourself?

Ask yourself–

Do you say yes when you really want to say no?

Do you satisfy everyone else’s needs before you consider your own?

Do you feel like an imposter? an outsider? a fraud?

Do you procrastinate due to fear of either success or failure (or both)?

All of these scenarios suggest there are unaddressed issues lingering below the surface that need to be healed and released.

Ask yourself one more question–

Isn’t it time you:

  • Figure out what you truly desire to create in your life right now
  • Become aware of what’s stopping you from moving forward
  • Determine what you need to do to break free of what’s blocking you
  • Experience greater freedom, happiness, purpose, and passion in your life.
